Hello, welcome to my blog! This blog is going to be about all things photography, from outfit tips, editing styles, little diary entries from a photoshoot, etc! I hope this blog helps other teen photographers and their businesses, along with my clients, before a shoot! My blog is going to be geared toward both audiences! Warning: there’s gonna be spelling and grammar errors. I’m sorry; I’m quite bad at that stuff, but I want to share with the world!

About me! If you're reading this from my website, I’m sure you passed my About Me portion. This is going to be more about the nitty-gritty of my journey and not just a glimpse of the full picture.

My photography journey really jump-started when I wanted to take spring photos with my family's old Canon Powershot. This camera was actually a great beginner camera to feel out. I liked taking photos without the pressure of needing to shoot in manual. At this point, I was just taking photos of flowers and everyday things like my coffee and computer at the library.

In October of 2023, my local library hosted a photography competition. I remember my idea of what to do came to me in the shower. I don’t remember the exact theme the photo had to be in; all I remember was writing down “Disco ball, Glitter, sunset lamp,” and later that night I put all my stuff together, which was…well, disco balls, glitter, and my sunset projector light. I snapped a couple of shots, picked the one, uploaded it, and waited for the contest. Except that wasn’t exactly all going on. That was just about a month, give or take a few weeks, my brother passed away. He had a form of brain damage called Cerebral Palsy that he got from a complication at birth. My whole life, my parents were very open with me, and as long as I remember, I knew he wasn’t going to live as long as most people. For some people with cerebral palsy, this isn’t as much of a fear, but it varies from case to case. My brother was literally my favorite person on this planet, and even though he couldn’t talk, he was my best friend, and we communicated the same, if not better than, any other siblings. This obviously impacted me a lot. I know people always say “I love looking at the world through a lens,” but at this point in my life, this was very, very true to me. I was a freshman in high school when he passed, and I switched to online school for the remainder of the year to give myself space. But with that came a lot of sitting around, which, with boredom and grief, doesn’t mix. So I used my camera constantly, and that’s all I did. I went outside, took photos, and edited them.



Back to the photo contest. I had an insane amount of votes and won. I’m pretty sure everyone voted for me because my brother had just died. I mean, I’m sure talent could be a part of it, but to be real…it was just people feeling bad and feeling like it was the least they could do. At this point, I had already been saving money, but my contest winnings were a $25 gift card. That immediately went into the camera saving fund, and that’s where it REALLY all happened.

My “real” camera. Once I saved up enough money (with some help from very kind family and friends that…again felt bad that my brother died), I bought my first DSLR. For non-photographers, this is a big deal! This meant I could do anything (well, it felt like it)

After a few months of getting a hold of the thing, I offered my good friends Adelaide (who I met in kindergarten) and Percy (who I met in theatre, which is my 2nd favorite hobby) a photoshoot. A few weeks later, we walked around town, and we had a BLAST. That is easily one of my core memories. When I went home and edited them, I felt so proud. Looking back, the edits could have used some work, and the poses were awkward in some, but really, for my first shoot, it wasn’t bad AT ALL.



Growing my Business. After this shoot, I slowly started doing more and more shoots till last summer, when I decided it was time to upgrade my camera to a mirrorless camera. I plan to do a blog post about camera gear soon, but to explain it simply, these cameras are in the more professional line of cameras.

In the past year, I have done so many photoshoots with friends, mutuals, and stagers! I’m so, so grateful for the clientele I have built. In July, I’m completely booked with senior photos. Having someone trust me with such a big thing like that is the biggest compliment of them all.
