How we came up with this idea

We are 2 teenagers who have our own businesses located in Lowell: Pyper Gordon (Owner of PyperGPhotography), and Olivia Landes (Owner of ORose.handmade, which is a fashion up cycle and styling business), and we were looking for opportunities to get our names and other West MI young adult entrepreneurs out there. We came up with an idea to create a vendor fair specifically for young business owners.

Planning:

We came up with the idea back in July, but in August we decided to reach out and make a post on the local Facebook group asking if anyone had a space where we could host. Shortly after we made the post, Amanda Rogers, owner of Rogers Neighborhood Realty, reached out saying she would love to host us! Once we had a host, date, and time, it was time to start looking for vendors. We both made posts on our business accounts asking for vendors. By the end we ended up with 3 lovely vendors, making us a group of 5! We also opened an email, Instagram, and Facebook account to help us promote.

About our vendors

Micah

"Hi, I'm Micah, and I've been making music since I first came to High School, and now I'm trying to do the same thing in my tiny college dorm! I play guitar and piano, and I've recently been trying to get into digital music like synthesizers and other electronic instruments. Music has been my biggest passion since I started playing violin in middle school, and now I write my own music, as well as song covers"

Kendra

"Hi, I'm Kendra! My business is named Kendra's Cookies. I'm a sophomore in high school.

I'm part of the swim team, and I love going to youth group at my church! In my free time, I enjoy doing art,

playing guitar, writing, and of course baking! Last spring, I had the idea of starting a cookie business. For a while, some people told me it would be too much work or no one would buy them. I decided to do it anyway (even though I had no idea what I was doing). I started by posting a photo of my cookies on Instagram, and that's how

Kendra's Cookies was born! Over the past few months, I've grown and learned so much by baking and selling my cookies."

Paige

"Hi everyone, my name is Paige, and I'm the owner and creator behind Ivy Grace Aesthetics!  I started my small business because I've always loved

being creative and making things

with my hands. What started as a passion for creating has grown into a little business where I get to share my handmade candles, wax melts, soaps, jewelry,  and other creations with all of you!"

The day of the event

The day before the event, we all came in and set up our stations so we wouldn't have to worry too much morning of.

Amanda provided free dirty sodas for all the customers and her daughter Daphne, who is a senior at LHS, helped make and serve them! We also had a raffle that people could enter to win one of each of our products!

After we opened, we had an amazing few hours of business and an amazing time all hanging out together!!
